I have always liked the sound recording of an old(er) video camera, say the old with tape cassete type from the 90`s as an example.

Why is that? It seems to me that all or most modern type cameras have some sort of "smart" audio recording with some auto-volume correction and feels like every sound is the same volume, If you understand?

While the old ones recorded the sound just like it was with no volume change or anything and the audio still sounded good, the audio sounded just like it would if you where there in the moment, more raw sound. Not scrambled or anything, it just recorded the sound it heard, thats it. AND it sounded good too!

Why is that?

I would guess that there where probably no or few Cheap and crappy cameras then, and of course the size difference, but still, even new good ones have some sort of "auto correction" on the sound.

Am I right?? And why is it like this? Or am I just brainwashed in my head that older is better? HeHe..
