I asked about sizing wheels and offset which I clearly don't understand...

I will put a snipet here since I am asking here.

I will be changing from a 16X7 , 235-60 Falken

Will a 285 fit on a 9" wheel?

I currently have 5" backspace on my 16" Cragar's,

What do I make of this offset calc?

Backspacing (in):5.125 in.
Offset:+3.00mm

Thinking about these wheels because I can't find 18X9 steelies

The 68 pictured has 17 x 9's all around. 245/45's up front and 275/40's in the back,But I want wider in the back

Yes a 285 will fit on there.

a 16x7 wheel is actually 8 inches wide.
With 5" BS this means you have 3" FS (front spacing)

on a 17x9 wheel, that's 10" wide.
with a 5.125" BS, that's 4.875" FS.

The Front Spacing is a determining factor of how far the [new] wheel will stick out compared to your current wheel.

So the question is, if you put a 1.875" spacer on your current wheel, do you think you'll have issues? Of course the tire won't be bulged out as much so be aware of that too.

Dale is on it but what about that 16" wheel. How much room do you have between the fender lip and tire sidewall? That's another factor you need to determine the 9" fitting.

Also Summit has a great return policy, as long as you don't mount the tire to the wheel and scratch it up they will take it back.

Good point Dale, I was hoping going to the 245/45's up front would help alleviate that, But I cant go any closer than 4.875 on BS, I run a .125 spacer now and dont really like spacers.

It's the Offset:+3.00mm that is throwing me off too, I dont get that part.

Thanks Vince it sits very low now and does not rub, but i need to check clearance.

Current front wheels have .125 spacers to keep from hitting the Global West upper struts, so I will need a narrower offset for up front.

The 9" will be narrowed, and wheel wells tubbed to accommodate for 285's. But I would like to go as wide as I can on the 9" wheel on the back. Not sure if I can push it more than 285 on that wheel.

The BS isnt going to cut it on the front. I have been googling and I can find 10 hole versions that fit multiple cars but I have to wonder how well those balance.

Plus the wheel I chose will fit my dog dish caps.
