The term you are referring to is "sequential". The answer is no. You cannot
effectively adapt a sequential manual transmission to your street driven hot rod without dropping big bucks.

It would be expensive and consume additional depth, but yes.
It will be many years before you see any forward progress made with regards to mechatronic manuals or the adaptation of clutch to clutch automatics. The hardware is within sight, but it's difficult to package the electronics (software and programming) into a marketable product.
