Default Dana 60 vs Ford 9 inch

I'm lookig for a rearend for my "70 Barracuda project and need some guidance. I've never ordered a custom rearend before, so I'm not sure of all my options and pro/con of each.

The car will be a Pro-touring style 99% street driven car. The motor will be a Procharged 5.7 modern HEMI with a TKO600 trans. (somewehere in the 700 HP and 700 TQ range) The car will be all custom (i.e not a factory restored car). I'm debating going with a Dana 60 (because it kind of goes with the whole Mopar thing) vs a Ford 9 inch (because there are more options and parts available etc). The weight of the Dana 60 also concerns me.

What I'm looking for is something in the 3.55-3.73 gear range, with a posi unit (I'd like some guidance on that too since I'm alittle confused over the difference between a TrueTrac vs Trac loc vs Eaton etc etc). I want it bare (no powedercoating or paint etc) and without the perches welded on yet ( I may move my spring inboard). An aluminum center section is a possibillity if I can fit it in my budget. My budget complete is around $2k, plus or minus.

Any guidance would be great...

I've emailed Strange, Currie and Moser, so we'll see what thier tech guys have to say.

I would run a 35 spline Moser 60 with a tru trac. As you mentioned l, it is a Mopar, and DANAs are killer. Weight is of no concern and the pinion location is better on the 60.

When your ready we can hook you up on the Moser through GPSuperStore.com

I have the Moser 12 bolt 35 spline with the tru trac and it works great. Moser will custom make anything you want.

Not trying to pick at ya, but do not want others confused. That 12 bolt has to be a 30 or 33 spline. The only 35 spline Tru tracs only come in 60s, oddly enoguh, 9" Tru Tracs are only 31 spline? Guess they figure Detroit Locker has the 35 spline market covered.

That's what mine is, the 35 spline true trac. I'm looking at the invoice right now. I should have counted the splines when I got it. But I'm pretty sure that's what I got.

Do you have a 8 7/8 truck rear? There are 35 splines lockers available for those. Here is a link to Detroits site.

I have a note to call this one in Tuesday. The price list gets fuzzy when you delete this, add that. Better to get a hard number from them
