They buried a brand new 1957 Plymouth in 1957, to be unearthed this year 2007. They had a contest to guess the population in Tulsa in 2007. One Lucky person who got close to the answer will win the car.

As part of the "Tulsarama!" festivities, citizens of Tulsa were asked to guess what the population of Tulsa would be in the year 2007. The guesses were then recorded on microfilm and sealed in a steel container buried with the car. When the car and artifacts are excavated, the person whose guess is closest to Tulsa's 2007 population is to be awarded the Belvedere. If that person is dead, the car is to be awarded to his or her heirs.
After reading this, it seems that the guesses have already been made and when they unearth the car this summer they will go back and view the microfilm to see who the winner is...I have lived in Oklahoma all my life (work in tulsa) and didn't even know about the contest. I knew about the car but did not know they had a contest to win it. That's pretty cool...
I remember stumbling across the 'forward look' site a few years ago when i was shopping for a 57-58 plymouth. I still want to get one some day.
I did hear rumors that since the records were not well kept back in the day that the car may end up in a museum. Just a rumor though....

I do hope it ends up being in the condition they were hoping for but in a sick way, it would be hilarious if they opened the vault and the thing was full to the top of nasty stanky 50 year old flood water. Oooooops!

If it is in decent condition I can bet we'll see it in Scottsdale next year and it should pull in some record high dollars.... think about it... a 1957 unmolested, untouched with zero miles !
