Baer vs. Touring Classics - Lateral-g Forums

I know this horse has probably been beat to death several times, but i was curious what the difference is in comparing Baer Track series vs. the Touring Classic set up (other than price). Are the Baer's truly worth the money? I do like the fact that the Baer's have matching cross drilled rotors for the front and back, but what else?

The Baer brakes are NOT any better then the Touring Classics brakes. They actluall use the same parts. T/C is cool to work with, you can speak directly with the owner, get the kit somewhat custom taylored to your application, and they have awesome prices for what you get. Mine was a direct bolt on. I really like the front brakes I bought from them!

I Have baer brakes on my car. have not gotten to drive it yet
but my dad just bought a set of touring classics for his nova and they are
the same damn thing PBR calipers. lol and like you said alot less money!

I believe Noel also has the drilled/slotted rotors, you can't beat the price AND the service.

Touring Classics service is just plain aesome! Noel has been nothing but helpfull to me.. oh yeah and he doesnt have a 6-10 week lead time like Bear.. the calipers are based on the same hardware the only difference is that a 13 inch breake kit from touring classics is about half price of a simmilar bear kit..

and as you can see the rotors are drilled and slotted

I don't know where you are getting your quotes on Baer brakes, but when I ordered mine there was about $100 diference in price between Baer & Touring Classics. I went with Baer's, their kit included news hubs and axle seals all packed and ready to go and shipping was less.

In the end, if you shop around the $$$ difference may be minumal and include the hubs, but I would not just base my decision on that. Touring Classics does have awesome customer service, which needs to be factored in and they will usually ship much faster than Baer.

I really like the " look" of baer's over touring classics myself
Only Kicker with Baer Is it took so damn long to get them! lol

Rod is correct I ordered mine when he did and there was not much $ difference at the time. On that note I would probably have went with TC kit if I didn't come across this deal.

well i bought my touring classic front brakes through ATS and when i wanted to order the matching rear brakes from bear they were 1400+ bucks and had a 10 week lead time... so ive now ordered a touring classics 12 inch rear kit that was somthing like 750.

and i really had no use for hubs with ATS spindles..

but as you put it the service is the real unique selling point.. when the post service lost my calipers, Noel got a box of replacement parts together even before it was confirmed it was actually lost, just to be ready to ship as fast as possible.. i can only say that the service is above and beyond what ive experienced in the past, and have hoped for for that matter...

So where do i get these killer deals on Baer brakes? I also saw a picture of the 13" Track series brakes on a car and it appeared that the caliper doesn't even contact the entire rotor surface. The TC kit, on the other hand, looks like it does contact the entire rotor surface. Any comments on this?
