Default 68 vert update

Been a long time since I was over here, so I thought I'd put up an update showing my winter's work on the 68 Vert.

This year was scheduled to be "the year of the brakes." My choice was a manual system with Wilwood 12.2" rotors and dynalight calipers on all four corners, and a Wilwood 7/8" bore tandem master, all supplied by GP Superstore

Last fall a couple of unfortunates kinda added to my needs.

A trip to the dragstrip resulted in a broken pinion yoke which snowballed into a 73 Nova 8.5" now equipped with a new Eaton Posi and Moser axles, along with a set of slide-a-links and a new aluminum Driveshaft.

I also noticed when disassembling the front suspension that a camber / toe issue had worn the inside edge of my Eagle F1 GSD3's down to the cord! As I had no more shims to remove, a set of SC&C adjustable upper arms came to the rescue to get the camber under control. Then I lucked into a used set of G/W lower arms for about half what it was gonna cost me to powdercoat the stock lowers and fit them with del-a-lum bushings!

Inexplicably, the front suspension went together an inch and a half higher than it came apart, a set of hotchkiss coils are on the way to fix that, it will be done this weekend.

While it was apart, I figured I'd clean up and paint the rest of the floor pan and undercarriage, and the "snowball" hit me again. Found some bad rust in the torque box area and the rocker pinchweld on the drivers side, and took the opportunity to learn to weld! Hotchkiss vert specific SFC's went in at the same time.

It's good to have my lil vert back on the road again!

Here's some pics, enjoy!
