New From Texas 67 Pro Street Goin Pro-Tour

Hi everyone,

I'm new here. I own a 1967 pro street coup and would like to go pro touring. I'm in the middle of replacing sheet metal. (full qtr's, filler panel, inner rockers, outer rockers, and possibly full floor pan). The 67 has been tubbed, 383SBC (538hp), Super T-10 4 SPD, Ford 9" 4.11 Gears, 36" ladder bars. I also recently purchased a 68 shell to build. It was as such a good buy I had to dive in. I've been viewing the site for about a year now and have decided it's time to share my project with everyone and become active in discussions and such.

I'm really considering going protouring on the 67 since I've got all the sheet metal stripped. Do ya'll think that I should do that or just stay prostreet?

Looks like you have a couple of nice projects there. What pat of Texas are you from?

Looks like a great start. Pro-Touring is a great wat to go. That is the direction I'm taking.

i think you should keep the 67 the way it is and use the 68 to go protouring with. if you did the 67 you would be undoing alot of work that has already been put into the car, most likely bringing it to what the 68 looks like currently except with better body panels. i say just start from scratch on the 68.

I live in Odessa, its between Dallas and Elpaso along I-20. Odessa is about halfway between the two cities. We have a population of about a hundred thousand. Nothing much here but work, the nearest body of water is about 2 hours away. Odessa is a work horse oilfield town.

Thanks for the compliments guys. Pro touring the 68 sounds like a better idea. I'm going to head that way after finishing the 67. I'm thinking I should have all the sheet metal replaced by early fall if all goes well. Between work and my family time, I bearly get to work on the 67. It wook three weeks just to get the qtrs and filler panel off. I'm currently doing all the trimming and such that come with those repro sheet metal parts. Sounds right up my alley !
What you are attemping to do is what 90% of my builds are.
There is a difference between the two styles but if done correctly you could benifit from both styles with little sacrifice.
The new MT SSR tires are making this combination a little easier to pull off.

Cool ride dude im building a pro street aswell and im going to run the SR M/T on mine too even though it will still be a pro street im staying with the 15" wheels i like the bigger rubber tires probably on a set of Budniks! still deciding wheel choice good luck keep us posted
