Wow, what a challenge just to try to get the fuel gauge to work!
Here's what I've done:
The guage is out and wired directly to the sending unit, as is the sending unit, just so I can trouble shoot this thing. So I know it's wired up right. Sending unit to gauge, power to gauge, and the gauge is grounded. Sending unit is also grounded.
I have a new sending unit, and I tried using the stock gauge. Could not get it to do anything but stay at F, so I figured the stock gauge was bad. So I tried an aftermarket VDO gauge, and I got something. But at E, the gauge would only read 1/2 full. I then got the old original sending unit, and it did the same thing.
I tried another brand of fuel gauge, and it was worse then the VDO, now E read right at F, and full is way past the F.
So aparently when the sending unit is at E, it's still giving amps to the gauge.
Any suggestions? Other then just filling it up all the time and hoping not to run out of gas, because that's what I'm thinking,
