The threads don't play a role in the sealing, the flared contact area between the two components forms the seal. The threads only provide the clamping force. No need to use teflon tape (or any sealant of any kind) on the threads. I use silver anti-sieze compound (a very very small amount) on the threads, I have never seen anything that worked as well to prevent galling of aluminum threads on AN fittings...Just my $.02 -Rob
