Bat cables burned up

So I got my Firebird back together this evening and made a couple of laps around the block then the new cables fried. One thing I noticed when I reconnected the battery was the horn which previuosly hadn't worked began sounding so I disconnected the horn wire. I put a grant wheel on it a few weeks ago. I'm not good at electrical so ant help would be awesome.
