My housing already had the ends installed so I had to cut the brackets. At first I concerned about strength, but the brackets offer A LOT of surface area to weld. If you look at the image I attached a few posts back, you can see one of the brackest that I had cut. Once I had the bracket postioned and tacked, I welded the the bracket back together. With the brackets fully welded around the circumference of the axle tube, they aren't going anywhere.
