Project Panther Update (68 Camaro)
It's been a while but some progress is being made. Project Panther originally slated for a black paint job might be going back to the factory Rallye Green (any opinions welcome) but for now, in the spirit of the original name for the car known today as the Camaro, Project Panther is being built to accelerate and handle with front/rear weight ratios and light weight components in mind. While the car is far from done, a few of the highlights are a 535HP (dynoed) LS1 backed by a paddle shifted six speed (from the 07 Vette) to a Speedway 9" rear end with a strange nodular carrier putting the ponies to the ground. The car has a Wayne Due subframe with C5 suspension pieces. Out back, a Hot Rods To Hell Truckarm Suspension with the DSE minitubs have been installed to allow for more tire underneath the factory quarter panels (no flares on this one). Early measurments indicate a 12 -13 inch wide wheel with 335 or 345s (final measurements will be shared here for those thinking about venturing down this road). Tying things together, is a six point roll cage with possibly a tie in through the firewall to the subframe for increased chassis stiffness (still on the fence on this one). So far so good....
