Guys, I am humbled by the great responses. Thank you very much. My car has a ways to go yet... I hope it doesn't disappoint when it finally gets "done."

Ricochet, congratulations on your new baby!! That's awesome. I'll let you know when I bring the Cuda out to Jaspers. This week I'm getting new subframe connectors and front frame connectors installed, so my car may be down a few days. There's always next week, though.

krptonite, thank you for the information! I'll talk to Mark about that when the time comes. Would you recommend JetHot, or another type/brand of coating?

Welcome aboard !!

Now if you value your money....run away fast !! This site will get you addicted and spending $$ like there's no tomorrow

Just kidding of course...

Anyway.... I'm building a 70 Barracuda pro-touring style car right now. Its still got along way to go. Still up on the rotisserie doing rust repair etc. I do have the Alterkations k-frame mounted and mocked up and a full Air Ride set-up front and back

My plan is modern 5.7 HEMI with forced induction..... want to go turbo, but $$ may keep me in the centrifigal supercharger world. Once again, many ideas but we'll see where my budget leads.

What are the specs on your rear wheels and tires ?? I'm planning on minitubbing my car to be able to run 345 and sink the tires up in the wheelwells when I drop the air...

Keep in touch... we may be able to help each other out....

Hey Ned!

Man, I am just looking through threads here and keep having to pick my jaw up off the ground. Honestly, I feel fortunate to have found this site, and see so many people doing incredible things with their cars.

Your Cuda build sounds very cool. I'd love to do a turbo set-up too, as my roommate back in the early 90's was a Buick Grand National guy and we used to talk turbos and fuel injection all the time. Now I'm a little more conservative and want to just build a rock-simple ~550 rwhp NA big block.

My wheels/tires are:

Front: 17x8 with 4.5" BS, 235/45-17, Nitto 555 tires
Rear: 18x9.5 with 5.25" BS, 295/45-18, Nitto 555 tires

I'd definitely like to keep in touch with you!

Jason

jethot is a good way to go, there are a few companies that do it, we had it done on the viper headers we used when we installed a viper motor in a 70 cuda along with a modified alterkation front and a heidts independent rear, and boy does it drive nice!!! there are pics of the build on my boss's website, lowdownhotrods.com, if you go on it then go to "what weve done" then look up paul lauffert cuda, it was a real wreck and started out as a 318 car but is now a high dollar machine and the owner beats the snot out of it which is just how it should be really!! the woodgrain on console and dash is airbrushed on and the stock doorpanels were covered in soft leather so it looks stock but feels much classier .

Hey Jason
How much room do you have with the rear wheels ??? any rubbing ?

I really want to be able to drop my car to the ground and still run a 345 tire. I think I can do it mini-tubbing but not notch the frame. I have a junk 345 that I'm using for mock-up and I think it will work.....

I was planning on being conservative too..... then I found this site and Pro-touring.com..... budget go "bye bye"

krptonite, you guys have done some very cool stuff. I didn't know that Rod Saboury had built another Vette!

Ned, I don't rub with my stock wheel wells (except for the wheel well lip bent for clearance) and stock leaf spring locations. I have about a quarter inch clearance to the leaf springs on both sides, and about an inch clearance to the quarter panel sheet metal. The wheel lips were bent before I bought the car; this wheel and tire combo may clear with stock wheel lip locations. I haven't checked a 345 tire in there, but I know that there is a bunch of room when the springs are moved/removed.

Gionni, my Dad's RR is green/green and he drives it almost everyday.

Hey Jason
I'm running the Air Ride system in the back and have already moved the lower control arm inward. The limiting factor is now the inner wheelwell, so I just have to figure out if I need to notch the frame or not.

Nice car.... maybe we can meet up and have a beer.....

yeah, rods new car is plain awesome, he was cruising woodward last week with it and he said he was stuck in traffic for one and a half hours and it never overheated or had clutch problems, which, when you consider the power( dyno'd @ 2300bhp @ approx 29lb of boost!!) and a lenco trans thats no mean feat, we will hopefully be track testing it onsept 15th to get it(hopefully) in the sixes as the license plate states, rod is a cool guy and very quiet, he doesnt need to boast about anything with his record. The car has won dozens of awards and if you get the chance to see it up close i am sure you will be impressed, i really hope this doesnt read as though i am bragging or anything but we are just really passionate about what we do for a living and i hope it shows in our finished cars, mike.
