Sounds like a TransAm or Z-28 800 series box. It`ll bolt directly into your car (use your pitman arm) and certainly have a faster ratio than you have now. They weren`t bad for their day but there`s a LOT more to a steering box than just ratio. It`s kinda like describing a motor by saying it has 10:1 compression...and that`s all. Well what kind of cam? What heads? Intake? Carb? etc.etc. It`s the valving of the box that gives it`s road feel,steering effort level and feedback (or not!) and you won`t get nicely weighted effort, great feel or feedback from an old fast ratio box and you certainly won`t get it from a Jeep! If you want something a little better than what you have that one would be fine. If you want the best (and
yes you really can feel the difference) you want a Lee box. Their valving and feel is outstanding and they`re blueprinted to really close tolerances so the steering is about as close to a good rack and pinion as you can possibly get.
