I've been running the regulator at the tank for several years. Not my idea, actually GM has been doing it for years on cars like the Vette.
The main reason(s) I like it is because it simplifies the fuel lines, only one to run up into the engine compartment. Secondly, it stops the heated fuel from the engine compartment and rails from going back to the tank. Not an issue in around-town driving, but you get out on the road for 200-300 miles and you would be amazed how hot the fuel in the tank gets. The gas is very hot coming back and the fuel level in the tank is dropping, making it even worse. This then causes the pump to cavitate, and eventually you're stuck on the side of the road waiting for stuff to cool off. Ask me how I know............
Power Tour 05 saw many cars have this issue.
