Have you guys ever given a single second on thought if you start saving gas now it will last longer ? All those hybrids and low emission cars saves gas at the same time as they pollute less.

More gas saved now, more to spend in future.

I agree with your point, and we should all do our part to burn up less fuel, but I don't think that it has anything to do with the subject at hand.

The basic problem with this bill is that it is mis-directed, and ineffective at best.
You could take EVERY pre 76 car off the road and it would barely make a blip in the level of emissions. How many of these cars do you see driving around? I guarantee you I see 25 Suburbans for every old Camaro.
In the grand scheme of things, they contribute a miniscule amount to the problem as far as emissions go.
Mileage? My smog-clean 2004 F150 gets FIFTEEN miles per gallon. As an example (because all my old cars are in pieces) My mom's 65 Mustang gets closer to 20.....and gets driven 1/20th of the miles that my truck gets driven. The Mustang has a Holley on it, and probably runs cleaner than it did with the flat-top. Not legal under the proposed new rules. How much sense does that make? Arnold already crippled car builders and speed shops in the state by killing the rolling exemption two minutes after getting into office (empty BS gesture to appease environmentalists)
Now this measure would effectively remove the cars in question from the road. Maybe that's the point, but it would accomplish so little and devastate the hobbyists affected by it. Stupid politicians making a ill-informed gesture.
Rant over (for now)
Tim

i think fords showing the new trend with its new diesel, 5mpg but better emmisions then its old 15mpg motor. use more gas to have less emmisions, it lets the companies build gas guzzlers and lets the oil companies hose us even more.

Have you ever read the stats on what it takes to make a hybrid car? The energy used to build the batteries is way worse then what it takes to drive a hummer. I also think it is funny if I put an LS1 in my 57 chevy that I legally have to have all the smog equipment on the engine and smaog it. We then how about I just keep the original 283 in there. That should be good for the earth. It is all about money that is why you can buy your right to pollute. Until that stops, nothing will ever change. The companies that find it easier to pay then to change will always win out.
