Bigtyme1, thanks for the comments and questions. As Scott mentioned, the lighting on the Ultra-Lite II instruments is white LED through the dial, with yellow accent markings. The red that you're seeing on the bezels in those shots is reflected light coming from the lit pointers. Unfortunately due to the way the gauges are designed the LEDs that provide the illumination are an integral part of the gauge circuit layout and cannot be changed. This is in part the reason that we have introduced so many design and color variations.
For you folks that are looking for something a little bit different than our standard products, I have some good news. We're in the process of developing a Custom Gauge order program for our website that will allow you to pick and choose things like pointer type and color, bezel, dial color, etc. We still have quite a bit of work to do, but target launch for the program right now is mid to late summer. I'll post more details here as I am allowed to share them.
Bowtieracing, thanks for the comments on the speedo question, I'm passing that information on to our dev team. Any other comments out there? Any people interested in 3 3/8" 200mph speedos?

Kris -
A quickie. Any idea how long the backorder is for the Nexus 6401, Speedo and Tach. I have the rest of them and they look very cool.
Also, is there a direct interface capability between the controller and say a laptop? Just curious. Thanks.

Bruce-
I just received a 6401 that I had on order for an internal project, so I would expect that you should see yours soon. There was a delay on a circuit board component that appears to have been resolved now. No idea on the speedo and tach currently. I'm out of the office today but will check on this Monday and see what I can find out for you.
There is not a direct interface between the controller and a laptop at the moment. You'd still need to swap the SD card back and forth. Sorry!

Kris:
Regarding the gauges. Yes, the 3 3/8 as well as the 4 or 5 sizes in the speedos and the tachs.
Now this being said, I know having all these variations could quickly turn into a nightmare for you all.
What I asking is would it be possible to have custom choices in one or two or your premier lines, where the customer could pick and choose exactly what they what for their car. (Sizes of the gauges, several bezel choices, Chrome, Billet, Black ect, and layout)
I know an up charge would be necessary, but I just went through the gauges I would really like to have in my car. Once the gauges (Nexus) were picked out, and all the items that go with it, it can run $3000+. If I'm at that level of commitment, it sure would be a great thing to get "EXACTLY" what you want.
Personally I think the 200 MPH speedos are great, However there are a fair number of cars that could push that speed.
Personally, I would like to see something in the range of 240 mph or a bit more. I have been involved in Bonneville on and off for several years and while not exactly necessary for that application, since you can have the gauges replay your last run, there are items of insight that can be gleaned with a good speedo added to the gauge selection. By using the correct gauges in the car being recorded, and a good GPS outside for cross referencing, a more complete understanding of the run could be understood and proper adjustments to the car cold then be made.
Also, will you gauges PLEASE be capable of running on a MAC Laptop also?
Finally, most of these cars are custom built works of art in one sense, and engineering marvels that are actually used to their full potential.
Auto meter in my book are the best you can put in your car and should take the time to realize that there are those customers out ther that really do need or at least really will buy the Custom parts they want for there cars.
I will be one.
Sincerely,
Ty O'Neal

Speedster, Sorry for the delay in getting back to post info, I know I said Monday and here it is Thursday already! Where does the week go?
As far as I know the 6401's are in production currently. The tach and speedo are delayed right now due to a missing component for the assemblies. Production informs me that the item will be available in approx. two weeks and that we will immediately start filling back orders. If you have any further questions, let me know or give our customer support staff a call toll free at 866-248-6356 (they're a little bit closer to that element of the business than I am).

Ty,
Thanks for the comments! I'll be passing along these thoughts in our next product development meeting. As for the Mac computer issue, I hear ya, I work in the creative department here and we're on Macs as well. We unfortunately still tend to be in the minority though. I don't know how new your Mac is, but the new models are supposed to be capable of supporting windows and windows based programs.
I think that the Custom Shop idea that we're developing, which I mentioned in a previous post will address some of the ideas regarding individualized instruments that you mentioned. 240mph speedos are certainly a possibility, but my two cents there are that for a street car when your scale is that large, the everyday driving portion becomes incredibly constrained. On a linear scale, you're nearly at 1mph change per degree of pointer sweep. We make a 260 Km/H scale speedo in the Ultra-Lite Series, and basically every minor increment is a 5 Km/H change, in the end viewable resolution is sacrificed. As you mentioned however, an increasing number of vehicles are capable of pressing the 200mph range, and I think we all like being able to reach for the far end of the scale.

-Push order
-Pay via electronic bill
-Wait for the brown truck
