There are as many variations on the eye to eye length for a given stroke vs spring adjustment room as there are manufacturers of shocks.
I tried a 5 inch stroke varishock on my QL and could not get a spring length to get the ride height I wanted. The Konis have the entire body threaded, something other shocks do not have. This widens the spring options, which as I am sure you know are as important to get right as the shock, you don't want to stack the coils on compression or lose the spring seat on full extension.
