FWIW - you can always simply try it and periodically keep an eye on the bungs and make sure you don't see cracking or leaking around them. But you will be surprised what kind of loads you can induce into a full fuel tank and I (honestly) have seen more than a few failed mounting schemes, but I have also been around a lot of racing which induces G-loading on a regular basis v. a cruiser like you are building. Typically you will see people build and weld in a very solid frame to drop it onto and then metal strap it into place.
