You have the right idea, keep it simple and driveable. As its not a Z or SS you wnt be tearing into a rare classic, so you can build the suspention, power plant etc. With no worries. Any changes you do will make it better, in value and th way the car performs. Man, you guys have ALL the luck! Where in the world do you find these beauties? I will keep looking, Im bound to find one sooner or later. Congratulations on your find, and keep us posted on how your comming along with it.

So with that in mind this one will be the keeper I am 39 yrs. old and want to build it the way I want for drivability. Since it is not a Z or SS just a base camaro is perfect. I want all the modern drivetrain like the pro-touring projects on here. Detroit Speed front and rear. Not sure on the mini-tub. An LS7 or 9. Tremec 5sp. rack and pinion. 18" intro's. dropped lower to the ground. I absolutely admire some of the 1969 projects on this site. So many things to think about and not sure where to start.
I am currently restoring a matching #'s 1970 Chevelle SS 454/450 LS6 W/build sheet documents. So this will be my next project for myself when that is complete.
Great ideas, definately mini tub it. Great car to start with, they are VERY hard to come by. Good luck, post pics as it moves along.

Default great find

like all that you have said except for...maybe mini tub. I only tubbed mine to the frame and I wish I would have done the full mini-tub. Do the full DSE mini tub deal even if you do not wish to run a tire that big. I promise you by the time your car is finished you will. At least you will have the option

Couldn't agree more....mini tub is number 1 on the list. The 345's on mine don't stand a chance let alone a 275. First gear is like driving on ice.

You guys are a great inspiration on this site so thanks for all the kind words and ideas. I want the best of both worlds for this 69 Camaro, Ripe for cruising the highway, skating the back streets, hitting the road course, and dominating the strip, all with looks, comfort and control, there isn't much more you can ask for. As for finding cars like this? You just have to keep you eyes and ears open. They are getting hard to find, I just told myself my next 69 is coming from the west coast. So the search was on. It will be a while when I start on the project but will for sure be posting photo updates when project 69 gets underway.
