I have a 489 with Edelbrock air gap, 1/2 phelonic spacer, 3 inch K and N, nascar style drop base. I have about three **** hairs left. Of course drop body bushings don't help my cause. The nascar style air cleaner isn't the lowest profile top either. Has to look good.

There is enough room under the cowl hood for 1/2" of clearance over the K&N filter lid.

It can be done.

I have been looking for this base for an hour. Do you have a part# by any chance?

I might be all wrong here but couldn't the difference be if someone is using the small block frame motor mounts.
I thought if you have the 307 engine mounts the engine would be sitting higher in the chassi then with the big block mounts.

It's about 3/8 of an inch.

The 307 mounts do mount the engine higher. The 69 302 and 350 mounts are the same height as the BBC, but mount the engine back a bit.

could you post a picture of your set up or email me a pic. I have a victor intake 1050 carb 1/2 dropped bushings and a 14" 3" drop air cleaner and I would like to get by with a 2" hood.
