Default The new Hot Rod Mag -- Optima Coverage

I got the early HR with the Optima Coverage..

TWO pages in the Roddin at Random section. It mostly covered the scoring mistake at the end and there were no times or real data. The theme seemed to be:

How the Cobar "destroyed the muscle cars in on-track performace"

Another Quote:

"This year, an original-owner 427 Cobra absolutely owned all the driving competitions, especially embarrassing every other car at the autocross"

lol.. I bet DF was loving it..

They failed to mention the driver of the Cobra was a 5-time champ and founder of an autocross school. If fact Jim got sorta screwed since they didn't even mention his name in the deal. I was expecting a story, sad to see it just ending up as a news blurb.

Looks like it's my magazine if you want any real coverage of the event.. it's a shame we can only really cover Camaros.

What is the deal with DF having it in for the PT cars? I might have to change his last initial when referring to him soon....

Damn...I like HR but I guess I'm in the minority on that one, lol.
They are good at what they do...what that is I'm not quite sure but I do enjoy reading it monthly.
Still waiting on my first issue of CP Steve-O...

I like Hot Rod too.. but they do seem to revel in anti-pt statements and feelings.

The Cobra beat me by .7 seconds or something like that in the 0-60-0 contest.. I hardly felt "embarrased"

The Cobra beat the DSE 69 being driven by Ryan by less than a second on the road course.. i doubt any of the DSE crew are "embarrased" by that.

If my PS pump had worked he would have beat me by a couple of seconds on the autocross.. considering he's a pro and I'm just me then I'm pretty happy. Hell, Mary was only a couple of seconds off the Cobra's time in the autocross.. now Mary in my car might of gave him the best run.

Again, I'm not seeing the "embarrasment" here.. the Musclecars were beaten by a lightweight open-header car built for racing being driven by a pro.. why would we feel bad about that?

There will be a three page story of the event in Super Chevy and another story (not sure on the pages.. maybe 4) in Chevy Hi.. Camaro Performers will have eight pages of coverage, but that will be two issues from now.

Steve told me that they used one of my pics in the story (but gave Steve credit by accident). I think that's really cool. (the pic part, not the screw up, lol)

As for the Cobra deal, it SHOULD have won. It's a super go kart on steriods with a fantastic driver. NOBODY was embarrassed, it was just flat out a great event.

Yea, I really didn't see anyone "get embarrased" by the Cobra.. Physics and math said the Cobra should win, and it did.

The shot of yours they used was Kinnan's car on the wrecker.. same shot I used in my story. lol

It looks like DF is pretty happy to be at the Optima event(he is the guy at the 1:01 mark)..."50 bitchin cars" that he doesn't care about, IMO.
