Oil pick-up

I did not have to press it in. I have been told that this is bad because by slipping in so easily it is possible it could suck air and not pick up as much oil. Does any one know if this is correct.

I'd be more concerned that it would fall off the pump, thus no oil.

You should tack weld it to the pump. Or I believe there is a clamp made that attaches the pick up to the pump.
