- Installed solid motor mounts. (for some reason my car has trashed 2 sets of poly mounts)
- New poly trans mount
- Fixed some wiring and gauges
- checked the entire exhaust for leaks and tightened everything up
- new header gaskets
- installed a new GM t-stat and did a coolant flush.

While he had the car, he had a tranny shop listen to the noise, well the owner convinced him it was the tranny for sure. So he ended up pulling the Tranny and we had it rebuilt with the Stage II kit from The Gearbox Co: 600-650 hp capacity

Once the Tranny was pulled apart it ended up needed new 5th, 6th and reverse gears and sychros.

I also ended up going with a brand new Spec Stage 3+ Clutch. 900+ ft lbs capacity

All in all, cost me about $2k to rebuild the tranny and clutch. But it now feels very solid, the new clutch engages really nice but the damn noise still persists.
older subject but the noise you speak off, is that a rattling sound out of the t56 shifter, because I get some noise out of my shifter and if the knob is a bit loose it really starts to rattle.
for me I also suspect the clutch may be slipping under accelaration because I get the noise on 5th or 6th gear when I punch it..
Im also running a spec clutch everytime I let off the clutch I get an anoying long squeak during engagement and during down shift. spoke to the spec clutch people at the sema booth they insisted it was normal and they call it a bark ( noise ) ,it started doing it more as the clucth broke in.

well I tell you what Ill never use spec again. I dont want my clutch to bark, it feels like im driving a clunker. the noise is loud and embarrasing ,
just wondering if it may be same noise

by the way those rear tires look sick I love that foot print , this is the first time I see them, sorry to hear about your stance Im sure youll get it right

Guys, so Bill ended up installing a shorter spring. Car is sitting alot lower now and the only problem he can see is the top of the diff pumpkin hitting the trunk floor as I have about 1.5" of travel. The new springs are 200 lb.

Sorry for the crappy pic:

Franky, the noise ended up being the shifter hitting the trans tunnel shifter hole opening. Bill clearanced it a bit and now the mystery noise is gone.
