Engineering Student Looking For Internship

At the risk of this being a tacky way to go about doing things (which I hope it is not), I wanted to ask any of the vendors on this site (California locals) if they are looking for or would be willing to accommodate a mechanical engineering student at Cal State University Fullerton about to start his junior year. I have quite a bit of knowledge in the automotive field, thanks in large part to this website, along with hands on experience with an in progress restoration of my 1970 nova. The reason I am asking on here is because of the lack of internships available through my school or craigslist that have involvement in the automotive industry. I would love to be able to get my foot in the door of the engineering industry and more specifically the performance or aftermarket industry. Any help with this matter is much appreciated.
