I'm running the rock auto spectra tank with a 5.3 LS putting 333hp to the rear wheels and have had zero issues.

Not sure about that. I've had a Ricks tank for 6 years and I'm about to buy another one. I vouch for them. But, DSE makes damn good products too.

I'm running a rick's tank in 69 camaro with LS1/T56 406rwhp. It's narrowed, notched, and has the check balls added to the pickup assy. Had it about a year and 4000 mi. The only problem I have is the fuel gauge doesnt work most of the time. They sent me another, different style, at no charge. That one doesnt work either. Fit, finish, and function have been top notch. Not sure if others have had any trouble with the gauge. Scott

And I thought it was me. I figured I screwed something up on my 59 Bel Air. The gauge works sometimes. Then, after I shut the car off, it won't work again.

My guess is you have bad ground.... The senders work on 0 to 90ohms... and are sensitive to bad grounding.

The float system just acts like a rheostat in the circuit... but if you're ground side is bad - then you're going to have a hit or miss system. If you've undercoated the car - and then have rubber in between the hanger straps etc - and haven't run a ground strap to the tank - that could be an issue... You don't want to rely on a braided hose to carry the ground...

dse and ricks have had a simliar issue with venting, but not with starvation. Spectra premium has had starvation issues. New vaporworx tank by ricks and soon by dse solve all issues but there is a cost that goes with them.

Pretty sure DS is just a re-branded rock valley tank. Rock auto, which is NOT rock valley, sold the spectra tanks that have had the most issues. The typical ricks or rock valley tank have issues with starvation because of a lack of good baffling but lots of people run them ok.
