Need clutch that can handle 600rwhp
I have a brand new LS7 clutch and Ram aluminum flywheel in there currently but decided to turbo and will need something beefier.
What do you guys recommend that will handle a minimum of 600rwhp?
Should I just keep the LS7 for now or will it fail on me on the first dyno run?
Also, do I need a steel flywheel or can I just keep the one I have and buy a beefier clutch?
I don't want something super stiff.

mcleod RST or RSX. super soft pedal, great at handling high HP....just about every part is replaceable including flywheel surface "plates" if you go with their aluminum one. Had them on a couple cars and never had a bad thing to say about them........oh very little to no clutch chatter as well

Any clutch that can handle big HP will have its own 'personality,' This is a show/streetcar rght? If so, I would not get into heavy race clutch set ups.
The McLeod RST is rated for 800 fwhp and has decent street manners and feels factory. The RXT is rated for 1000 but is more of an on/off switch.

Go to Katech and lookup their LS9x or LS9r clutches. Up to 900 ft-lbs and OEM feel and driveability.
I have one in my car and it's by far the best clutch I have ever used. I have never heard a single complaint about Katech clutches.
It sounds to good to be true, but I was also a skeptic until I put one in my 69 and another in my Z06, both highly modded.

Here's a potential candidate, the centerforce DYAD. I recieved a pm from a member about a month ago asking me for feedback on the DYAD. I dont have a lot of miles on it. Here is my feedback so far.
The clutch is awesome, pedal effort is slightly tougher than my stock ls7 clutch but that thing was a feather. There almost the same. Off idle it comes out with no chatter, its a tad bit more grabby but a bit more rpm and its very smooth. I have a tendancy to be lazy when loafing around town, so its more my driving style, to use to driving my wifes powerless mini cooper. I run a 3.90 gear so first is very low and helps get the car out easy. This all using a Ram bearing, if you use this design make sure the guide pin is not to long that it hits the pressure plate diaghram and counter weights. I got to tell you, I agonized with the decision to remove the charm bracelet they put on the pressure plate. Those little weights look like a disaster waiting to happen, but after spending 1500 bucks on that thing I couldn't do it. The install is cake, its very well marked so you cant screw up the order of assembly, very well packaged and comes with a dyno sheet, ARP bolts and a centerforce sfi specific flywheel. Use red loctite on flywheel bolts and blue on pressure plate bolts That thing can hold 1300 ftlbs. More than I will ever have in front of it, the nice thing is if I want to go to island dragway with my son for a little grudge match racing, I dont have to worry about glazing it. should be able to throw anything at it, I like the piece of mind. The DYAD is a really nice design, theres not a lot of miles logged on them so that could be a con, I think The one lap car is doing the big one lap race with a DYAD so look for feedback on it. I contimplated an ls9 but when I heard a belhousing spacer was required it turned me off, and then need to send my drive shaft for shortening, although its also a serious consideration. Good luck, keep us posted, hope this helps. Rich
I weighed both set ups with the flywheels the centerforce was lighter cant remember the exact weight but it was around 5 lubs.
Pretty surprised at how smooth it is.

I have the Centerforce twin disk clutch too. I've got about 3000 miles on it, and maybe half a dozen events. I used to have to feather and slip the clutch to keep my engine from bogging down off the line, and when I took my car apart a couple months ago I inspected the clutch. It was just fine. Just like Rich, I've been really happy with its street manners.

Wow Lots of opinions and testimonials. I would dig deeper on the specifics of your car and goals compared to those offering opinions. I have 800 at the crank and my RXT is smooth as glass with my set up. My torque is way over 550. My daughters can easily handle it. No where near an on off switch..
