There are many ways to help out military personnel and families. I think most people reading this thread have more questions than answers. People are not going to put their hard owned net income into a charity auction that the carrot may not happen, even if tax deductible, when they have other options to do the same, just my opinion.

I'd have to agree with Stuart on this, if you want to help the charity that is awesome and I commend you and your shop for doing so.

But as stated by others it just seems cheesy to put the what if in the whole deal. I couldn't agree more that we need to support ALL of our troops returning home from war and service. And I do every year, I don't do it because they may give me a prize IF they reach a certain amount of money I do it because I want to. And that's what most others do as well.

Not trying bash just trying to put some perspective on it.

Sell it at auction, and give whatever they bring to the Charity.
