Last night got my car out to Sonoma Raceway (Sears Point) to see what I could get out of her. Disclaimer - It's been more than 25 years since I've raced at a track.
So ended up getting out there late and only got in three passes but had a fricken blast. I had no idea what she would run or, more importantly, what I could get out of her.
First pass... Brought it up to 3k, dumped the clutch and hammered it. Smoked the tires for probably 100 ft (lol) with a 2.97 60' and finished with a 15.3 at 103.25 mph. What a let down. Good mph though.
Second pass - had to dial in... Had no idea so I do 14.2 which was embarrassing since all these tuner guys are dialing in in the 12's and even some in the 11's. Well I only bring it up to 2k and ease the clutch a little for a much better launch, a .33 light and a 2.22 60' and cross with a 14.212 at 98mph missing 3rd and 4th gear. Ugh but cut a second off my first run and won.
Third pass - changed my dial in to 13.2 since I missed 2 gears (still just a guess). I cut a .485 light, spun the tires out of the hole with a 2.69 60'. Crossed the line at 106.66 mph for a 13.4. Getting there but not as quick as I had hoped.
Cut almost another second off the previous run but lost so was out for the night. I know there is a mid 12 in there. Just got to get off the line without spinning and cut a good light. Can't wait to go back next Wed but get there early and get several practice runs in.
Built it to drive it and happy to be able to finally get her out there and run her through the gears.
I will say that it is pretty amazing to see all the late model mustangs running 11's & 12's all day long on street tires and sound totally stock. I have a buddy who has a modified G8 who runs consistent 11.4's but he has it totally dialed in.
