Default what brakes should I go with?

So here's my dilemma. I want to upgrade my brakes and eventually have a hydraboost system with front and rear disk. Problem is $$$$ so I'm going to go in stages. The car (64 chevelle ) has gm disk brakes in the front and 12 bolt drums in the rear. I want to start with upgrading the front disk brakes. At the very least I was thinking new rotors with the D52 Wilwood calipers but of course I want to go at least 13" rotors. I guess my bottom line is are the D52 much of an upgrade? Has anyone used the 13" CPP disc brakes or the aftermarket C5 kits on Ebay? I want a good stopping and handling car. I might do some local auto cross events but I don't have the budget to build a full on track car, just a nice driver that I can play in from time to time.

The D52 isn't really much of an upgrade and so probably not really worth the expense of them.

Contact Kore3, they will fix you up. Sounds to me like a C5 brake kit would suit you well and Kore3 has all you need to make the swap.

I just looked at the website and like what I see. If I understand it correctly it looks like all I need is the billet hub and big brake kit or do I need to get the AFX spindles? Have any of you guys run these brakes? What's the feedback?

you can go either way. C6 Calipers are the way to go budget wise. You can do the C6 rear with 13" rotors.

I'm running the C5 big brake kit up front w/ Wilwood 7/8" manual master and Hawk HP+ pads, and drums in the rear. With 245/40/18 Nitto NT-05's up front I have more brake than grip. Modulation is very good IMO.

Sieg, what wheels are those VWW? what size backspace are you running, any spacers? Any info would be appreciated.

X2 on Sieg's setup. I'm running the C6 in 340/330mm front/rear rotors with HP+ and a 7/8" Wilwood manual master as well. Phenomenal braking with excellent modulation. An adjustable prop valve is a must though.

You don't need the AFx spindle. I would recommend the billet hubs. They are a very good bargain for what you're getting. Fitting into your budget is another thing though.

I've got Kore 3's front C5/6 hybrid setup on the car. It's C6 calipers on C5 rotors. I bought the billet hubs and just used their adapter bracket. I have C5 rears. I used a 4th gen Fbody MC and have a proportioning valve on the rear line. Brakes work really well. Tobin's customer service is fantastic.
