This is how you ruin a perfectly good hood. First cut 3" off the length, second you saw big holes in the under bracing to make room for the hood hinges. Then you fabricate pockets for the hinges to bolt to, drill a bunch holes in the in the pockets so the adhesive will grab. Lastly you sand blast and powdercoat the parts, then glue them in. Tomorrow I'll brace it up and fiberglass everything in place. Why don't I build 69 Camaro's, so I can just bolt parts on.

Ron.. pretty sure you'd break down a Camaro too and cut the holy shiat out of every inch of it.

I admire taking on fiberglass work. I hate that stuff. I've got some fiberglass bumpers I've widened that I have to fiberglass in and I'm dreading it. How do you apportion your epoxy ? do you use a scale or measure it out ?

And remember it could be worse - I'm planning to fabricate my next hood from scratch out of aluminum. At least that's the current plan, I could wuss out and just widen an existing fiberglass one, maybe your work will inspire me to take the "easy" way out. Doesn't sound as fun though.

The epoxy is from SEM, 3M makes it too, its made specifically to adhere fiberglass to steel or aluminum. It very expensive though, that tube is $65, and the gun is another $65. It is really cool the way it is designed though. The two parts of the epoxy fit in the same gun, as you squeeze it mixes itself in the end of the tube, its really ingenious and works quite well. Its the same stuff body shops use for installing Corvette body panels to the metal mounting strips.

That is so cool. I feel like an 8 year old who just got an Evil Knevil stunt cycle. I apologize that I had you working for minimum wage Aaron, should have made you feel young again, hell you should be paying me.
