I'm trying to build a car to participate, but it'll take me a while....... I hope these events get the support they need to be around for when I finish my car.

Has anyone ever talked with Jimi et al to see just how many cars they'd like to see at each event to make the nut?

Given that they are held in conjunction with the Chump Car series and have the TV deal, that has to lighten the most likely very considerable load some. The Chump car turnout was HUGE this weekend, from my perspective anyway, and interest in that series seems to be growing all the time.

I'm just wondering how many Ultimate Street cars entered into an event would be optimum, before it gets to be too many? Granted it should be more than 50-60 for sure, hell we draw over 100 cars to just about every local SCCA autocross we have for 4 maybe 5 minutes of total driving time. Hopefully the Midwest will represent well at St Louis in a couple of months...

I'm with GW on this, if people don't show up to these events they will go away. The sponsors are paying substantial money to support these events and if the participation is low they aren't getting good value for their investment and they won't continue to invest. Track rental alone for these events is VERY expensive, I have no idea what Daytona, Laguna .... etc cost, but I know a track like VIR is $20K per day, plus insurance, and the cost of the track personnel.
People need to get over the embarrassment of looking like a newb or a fool (I pretty much do that at every event) and come out and have fun. The more experienced drivers are always willing to help if you ask.

This event was awesome!

I only came as a spectator (ran into time issues and car didn't meet the rules) and it was great seeing some awesome cars. I got to meet some great people and had an awesome time. I'm looking forward to going to more events.

I just feel really bad for my bank account. I have slowly been building my Buick up into something that could be called a pro touring car, but after this weekend it got a pretty serious shove in the right direction. Now I'm going to try as hard as possible to participate in the Sebring event in September.

I hear ya... I can't get the sound of those singing LS engines out of my head...

I think word might get out a bit more after this event and hopefully attendance will pick up. The first two were pretty early in the season and basically back to back. This one was on the other end of the Country with a completely different draw. I know people traveled from far away to get there though and I'm assuming once they get back home and get caught up, they'll be talking the event up just like everyone else.

That has to help create a buzz about them.

We are back from what I would consider one of the most memorable car experiences we've ever had. The USCA crew put together an awesome event that consisted of more track time than we could even handle. Anybody on the fence about going to one of these events I would highly suggest you sign up. You wont regret it.

Here are a couple laps from one of the sessions on the Rolex course.
