We use and recommend a metal cleaner called Wenol. It comes in two types, Blue & Red. The Blue is ultra fine and the Red is bit coarser. Start with the Blue, and if you need something more aggressive then try the red. We've got a pint of the Red here on our assembly bench. A little dab will do ya!

Easiest place to find it is Amazon.com:

As always use a soft clean rag and do not get it on a anodized finish. Only use it on an uncoated bare metal surfaces and again a small amount goes a long way. A tube of Wenol will last for years to come.

We were getting clean used baby diapers for wheel cleaning rags as I've these are the best. The Costco micro fiber towels will scratch a polished or highly machined aluminum surface. Not all micro fiber towels are equal.

Thanks!
