We are working on a truck with a bedliner in it, and we were able to cut and re-weld the bed support rails under the bed floor without ruining the coating. Depending on what the coating is, you might be able to weld slowly and keep the heat down and not affect it. Our bedliner softened a bit, then re-hardened when cool and you cannot tell it ever happened.

Agree with Kevin; depends on the coating.

I had fab done after my UPOL undercoat. Just grind undercoat off weld areas, do the fab (wear a mask), and touch up the undercoat. Done.
