Sounds like your tube is being pushed back through the holder, Tighten the screws and or clamp it in a vice.

I borrowed the flaring kit and it looks like it has some miles on it. This morning I did a quick flare using the vise and it was pretty darn good. Thanks for your advise I plan to buy another one today.
