Thank you. I've been fortunate and have had a lot of great input from lots of great people and builders. Members of this site have provided valuable info as well. I can't wait to get it running and get on the track. I'm guessing the car will be capable, let's HOPE the driver is!!!! Lol

Well, ive found new life and some time to work on the car again. I brought the car home, the whole nose is here and I just got my dash. I had a friend in Spokane pick up some chromoly tube and we're going to build a skeleton to mount everything. I unloaded it this morning so hopefully in the next month I will have it ready to tear down and start prepping for paint.

I'm using chromoly tube for my core support and to mount my fenders, rs nose and bumpers. I figured I have taken this much time to be "weight conscious" I better use chromoly. What do you think?

Sure, you can go with smaller, lighter tube by using ChroMoly.

Then again, that stuff doesn't really see any real impact, etc, so why use something so expensive. Thin wall HREW would hold it just fine, I think.

I get using ChroMoly in roll cage that protects you, but in this use case, it's just supporting weight, right?

Pretty much. I'm probably going overboard but I've pretty much went overboard since I started the project. Lol

If you are planning to build your cage to pass tech, check the rules first.

1.750 .120 wall tubing is usually the norm in a rule book. Using ChroMo will be pointless as it will not offer a weight savings.
