Default 8.1 And T-56????

Hey Guy's,

I'm just playing with the idea here...I could get a low mileage 8.1 out of a crew cab and am wondering why we don't see that swap yet??? (well i haven't)

Also, is the T-56 a direct fit to the rear of this 496 inch monster?

What else would be a problem? I guess the pan as always....Other than that?

I have my Ls on the floor next to the car...But 496 cubes sure sounds mean!

48k miles, 100% original, 1969 Camaro coupe. Untouched, never apart and squeaky clean!!! 327/th350, A/C car. Gold on black w/vinyl top. Only add ons; Fast ratio box and SS396 wheels.

FINALLY!!! A car without rust repairs ever!!! None before, none coming!!! Cant come to modifying it tough....

...So, '67 Camaro project with my laying around stuff out of my black 'vert. 468 BB and YSI blower, braked th400, 12 bolt/spool, 35 splines etc. Complete Calvert suspension front and rear. 30x13.5 ET Streets, caged, lightened, slammed and running low 9's "Street car"

I am having the same debate with myself for my camaro right now. I have a very nice BB lots of good parts in it. All I need is to get EFI for it and maybe switch over to alum heads and should make some real nice power. But the LSX that I could put in it would not be as heavy in the front which is what I realy want. So I am stuck on which way to go

Street & Performance has products (not sure what that all includes though) for the 8.1.

Hey thanks Scott,

I've been there earlier tonight. Haven't got much info on the parts avail either. The fun part about the 8.1 is its already a complete set up (like my LS take out, all wiring and computer come with it) I'm just wondering what fits and what are the possible troubles i could come to face.

I'm especially wondering about the 6 speed....

69, The BB might be a bit heavier...But it comes stock with 500 pounds of TORQUE! Thats what got me thinking! And you can't argue the sound of a BB.

I should start driving cars instead of trying to build them!

FIRST POST!!!!!!WOOHOO

I'm currently building one for my '65 Chevelle actually. I think it's crazy that more people aren't considering this swap as well, it's a beast of an engine.... Some specs so far:

HEADS
-Exhaust ported and bowls cleaned up
-1.88 stainless exhaust valves (stock 1.74?)
-2.19 intake

BLOCK
-Line Bored
-Balanced
-Eagle Rods
-Stock 8.1 crank
-JE custom pistons (9:1)
-Comp Cams hydraulic roller (560's lift)

I will be running the F.A.S.T engine management system. Was planning on using the stock intake manifold however I decided on running a Hogans Racing fabricated sheet metal manifold instead. I figure the stock manifold just won't flow enough??? Ultimately I would like to supercharge it as well.....We will see I guess

Here are some pics so far

If you were going to make this swap, would you be able to do so with a manual clutch linkage type transmission (like a TKO)? Has anyone made the z-bar pivot arm work with this block?

Thanx in advance.

Mike

I've been told by many knowledgeable people its a much better idea to go LSx way.

So i'm staying with my LS1 and might try aTT set up instead of Supercharger...

Cubes are cool but so are High revs and light weight.

Yes you can run the T-56 behind it.
