You really want to get the oil temp up to 212F to help get the water out of the oil when you are just cruising around.

Mark, in your earlier post above you mention using a 210 degree thermostat & getting the temp up to 212 to get the moisture out of the oil when cruising around, I pressume you're talking about engine temps and not trans temp?
If that's the case general question regarding engine cooling, could you set the record straight & let some of us know what the fan settings you would recommend using dual fans and a 187 degree thermostat for our street cars using LS engines putting out around 500hp, N/A, wet sump. Thanks in advance.

It is a good idea to get your engine oil temp up to above 212F to get the moisture out of it.

We did a project at work that always had very low oil temp with poor PVC. Water condensation in the engine caused rust on the rods and the valve springs. Since then I always wanted a good PVC system and hope to get the oil temp up for general cruising.

I usually do PWM fans so they ramp in. We usually turn them on at 190 and are full power at 220F. I’ll need to look at an old cal to confirm but that seems close.

I hope that answers your question.

Mark
