Default My thoughts are with The Medlen Family

Not sure how many of you follow NHRA or not, but Funny Car driver Eric Medlen was in a horrific crash Monday testing at Gainesville. It has been touch and go all week - but today he passed away. I really don't know what else to say - kinda of still in shock.

My thoughts are with The Medlen Family and John Force Racing at this time.

R.I.P. Eric. You will be missed.

I've been following it all week. It's a horrible deal. I know they did a craniotomy and I heard from a good source that his legs were severely messed up from the driveshaft. Regardless of injuries and how he ultimately passed away, it's tragic.

Tears on my keyboard here. I have been really worried about Ashley. John (Medlen) has got to be a wreck. Our condolences to the family

Terrible tragedy..... That's all I can say about it.

It blows my mind how some of the legends have literally made thousands of passes since cars were far from safe and a young guy comes along with a ton of ability, a massive future ahead of him and the ultimate dream job only to have it all ripped away.....

It's hard to imagine how the other racers must feel, and how they are going to be affected down the road. It is bad enough to see a crash of that severity on TV, but in person it has to be indescribable. I can say that I have loaded up my car and gone home after witnessing a bad (nowhere near as bad as Eric's) crash at the local track. One of my co-workers was just saying the same thing the other day. It's not our job to drive, so it is different for us, but oh my god, how do you just jump back in after being there for that?

I know what you mean FreddieCougar. I was at Atlanta dragway a few years back during a Super Chevy show where the jet car driver burned to death right in front of us. It is something I would never want to experience again. My heart and prayers go out to the Medlen family and all associated with John Force Racing.
