Pics of my 68 camaro a lifelong on going project
I am just getting around to posting some pictures of my Camaro. I am 28 and have owned the car since I was 15. The car was only set up for street/drag racing as of last winter. Then I decided that I wanted a car that looks more current and is a joy to drive.(I was tired of only going fast in a strait line) Here is what I have at this point with a lot of help from my friends.
The camaro has a 10:1 compression 540 big block with brodix 2x heads. The solid roller cam makes sure the RPMs are no problem. Coming from the world of drag racing is a 1050 dominator with a victor intake and a set of 1 1/8 hooker headers with 4” flowmaster exhaust. I knew that this would be a lot of motor for a pro touring style car, but I love excess. I hope to add an F2 procharger as soon as money allows.
Mark at Bowler transmissions hooked me up with a transmission to put the power to the ground. He picked a bulletproof 4L80E controlled by a compushift controller with a 3500 billet converter. Stainless steel brakes took the place of the stock drums I had been running on for years.
After seeing a Camaro at SEMA with Boze Pro touring wheels, I knew that I had to have a set. Zak hooked me up with the wheels just in time for Power Tour that fit like a dream. As soon I got the wheels I wrapped then in BFGOODRICH KDW'S.
I went with YearOne to clean up some details of the look of the car that had been neglected over the years.
After all this was done I went to Air ride Technologies for a Street challenge kit. It works great. My first time to autocross the car was on Power Tour and I got 3rd place in the 1980 and earlier class. Plus, I love the look of the car lying on the ground at the local hangout.
The car is a blast to drive. Thanks to everyone that helped and special thanks to Tom McBride.
