Default Checking interest \ value

Hello all,

Hope everyone is well. The purpose of this post is to check interested and perhaps assess the value of my 68 pro-tour Camaro. As some of you may know, I bought this car from a forum member a few months back. It was almost done and almost perfect when I got it. It is now "done". Tracy, the builder, did a terrific job building the car. The only "problem" was some welds on the 4-bar rear end did not fully penetrate so I had all of the welds ground off and re-welded. Since owning the Camaro I have done small things like slap on a Marquez Design billet gas cap, replace the front seats, have the trunk upholstered in a body color matching scheme, have the alternator replaced and had the car Dyno tuned. You may remember a post form me a few months back where I was jumping out of my chair after seeing the car made 638 ft. lbs. of torque and 593 HP AT THE REAR WHEELS!

At any rate, the car is beautiful, monstrously fast, reliable and just a killer car. All that said, I am already bored and thinking about moving on to another car (for those of you who know me, you know I have this sickness). So, I was hoping to measure interest in this car both from a dollar as well as a trade perspective. At the risk of posting the longest thread in the history of Lateral-G.net, here is some details on the Camaro as well as a link to an Internet picture hosting site with loads of pictures of the car. I also have some small Quicktime videos so you can hear the car. If you would, could you scan the attached document and take a look at the pictures and let me know what you think? Any input would be very welcome.

Camaro Details:

BODY \ PAINT: COMPLETLY RUST FREE BODY. THE CAMARO HAS ALL OF ITS ORIGINAL PANELS/DOORS AND WAS A GREAT DONOR CAR TO START WITH. THE PREVIOUS OWNER HAD THE CAR PAINTED A COUPLE YEARS AGO BUT THE CAMARO NEVER SAW THE LIGHT OF DAY AS IT WAS A PROJECT WITH NO END IN SIGHT. IT HAS A BEAUTIFUL, TWO STAGE PAINT JOB (BURIED IN HIGH-QUALITY CLEAR) AND IS SEBRING SILVER WITH BLACK STRIPES. THE FIREWALL WAS FLUSHED WITH A DETROIT SPEED AND ENGINEERING PLATE. THE FLOOR WAS COVERED WITH SOUND DEADENING MATERIAL TO KEEP THE SOUND AND HEAT TO A MINIMUM. ADDED MARQUEZ DESIGN BILLET GAS CAP. THE BODY IS VERY STRAIGHT AND ALL GAPS LINE UP GREAT.

MINITUB: PROFESSIONALLY DONE AND IT LOOKS GREAT!! THE DETROIT SPEED AND ENGINEERING WHEEL TUBS LOOK LIKE THEY CAME FROM GM EXCEPT FOR THE FACT THAT THEY HOUSE HUGE 335/30 MICHELIN PILOTS.
REAR SUSPENSION: THE REAR WAS UPDATED WITH THE LATEST TRICK SUSPENSION, ALSON CHASSISWORKS G-BAR. THE G-BAR IS A CANTED FOUR BAR REAR SUSPENSION THAT IS LIGHT YEARS AHEAD OF STOCK LEAF SPRINGS. THIS TRICK SUSPENSION USES VARISHOCK QS1 ALUMINUM COILOVERS THAT ARE ADJUSTABLE AND ALSO ALLOW EASY CHANGES IN RIDE HEIGHT.

FRONT STEERING/SUSPENSION: THE FRONT /STEERING/SUSPENSION WAS UPDATED WITH A TON OF TRICK PARTS: FULLY ADJUSTABLE TUBULAR UPPER CONTROL ARMS, SCREW IN HOWE NASCAR TALL BALL JOINTS, GLOBAL WEST COIL SPRINGS, BILSTEIN FRONT SHOCKS, HUGE HOCHKIS SWAY BAR, KRC ALUMINUM POWER STEERING PUMP, KRC REMOTE ALUMINUM RESERVIOR, HIGH PRESSURE STAINLESS BRAIDED LINES AND A QUICK RATIO POWER STEERING BOX. THE BODY IS MOUNTED TO THE CHASSIS WITH SOLID BODY MOUNTS AND THE FRAME IS TIED TOGETHER WITH GLOBAL WEST SUB FRAME CONNECTORS. THE HANDLING ON THIS CAMARO IS ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS!

ENGINE: THIS IS A CUSTOM PRO BUILT 580 ci MOTOR. BUILT BY rebirdraceengines.com. THIS IS NOT A GM CRATE MOTOR! THIS CUSTOM BUILT BULLET HAS A DIFFERENT BORE/STROKE COMBO THAN A GM CRATE MOTOR, 4.5" STROKE x 4.53" BORE. THE LONGER STROKE PROVIDES MORE TORQUE AND MORE HORSEPOWER AT A USABLE STREET RPM. THIS STREET MOTOR IS FULL OF KILLER PARTS AND OF COURSE RUNS ON PUMP GAS WITH NO ISSUES BECAUSE OF ITS MILD COMPRESSION OF 10:1. THE BOTTOM END IS ALL 4340 STEEL AND THE BLOCK IS A MERLIN II. THE HEADS ARE FULLY PORTED DART ALUMINUM HEADS TOPPED OFF WITH A FULLY PORTED DART INTAKE AND A TRICKED OUT AED 950 HP HOLLEY CARB. THE VALVE TRAIN IS HANDLED BY A COMP CAMS ROLLER SHAFT, COMP CAMS ROLLER LIFTERS, COMP CAMS STAINLESS FULL ROLLER ROCKERS, COMP CAMS PUSHRODS AND AN ALUMINIUM STUD GIRDLE. THE IGNITION IS A FULL MSD SYSTEM WITH A PRO BILLET DISTRIBUTOR, MSD BLASTER III COIL, MSD 6M BOX AND MSD PLUG WIRES. THE CAR WAS DYNO TUNED BY A WLL KNOWN SPEED SHOP IN SAN JOSE, CA. I HAVE DYNO SHEET THAT SHOW THIS CAR MAKE 638 FT. LBS. OR TOURQUE AND 593 HP AT THE REAR WHEELS. AND, IT IDLES AT 900 RPM, RUNS COOL AND IS A *****CAT UNTIL YOU ROMP ON IT. THE DYNO IS FROM NEW ZEALAND AND TO THE DYNO MNAUFACTUERE ANY DRIVE WHEEL IS A FLOYWHEEL SO PLEASE DO NOT BE CONFUSED BY THAT PORTION OF THE DYNO PICTURE. IF YOU LOOK AT THE PICTURE IT ACTUALLY SAYS CHASSIS DYNO. AS I HAD HOPED, THE CAMARO IS REALLY QUICK AND CAN KILL THE REAR TIRES AT WILL.

EXHAUST: THE HEADERS ARE HIGH DOLLAR COATED DYNATECH PIPES CONNECTED TO A 3" SPINTECH EXHAUST SYSTEM. THE MUFFLERS ARE LARGE SPINTECH XL TO KEEP THE NEIGHBORS AND COPS A LITTLE HAPPIER. THERE ARE CURRENTLY NO TAILPIPES PAST THE REAREND SO IT DOES HAVE A WICKED SOUND.

TRANSMISSION/CLUTCH: THE TRANNY IS A TKO 600 5 SPEED WITH A .64 OVERDRIVE. THE FIVE SPEED OFFERS SUPER QUICK RATIOS FOR DRIVING IN TOWN AND A BIG OVERDRIVE FOR HIGHWAY CRUISING. THE TRANNY MATES TO THE BIG MOTOR WITH A SFI STEEL FLYWHEEL, THE CLUTCH DUTIES ARE HANDLED BY A KILLER MCLEOD UNIT (SMOOTTH WITH NO CHATTER) AND THE BELLHOUSING IS A MCLEOD SFI BLOWPROOF HOUSING. THE CLUTCH IS ACTUATED BY A TILTON HYDRAULIC CLUTCH MASTER AND A MCLEOD HYDRAULIC THROWOUT BEARING. THE SMOOTH HYDRAULIC CLUTCH ALLOWS YOU TO RUN A MUCH STRONGER CLUTCH ON THE STREET WITHOUT BURNING DOWN YOUR LEG AT EVERY STOP LIGHT.

REAREND: THE REAR IS A FULL BLOWN MOSER ENGINEERING 12 BOLT WITH 33 SPLINE AXLES, 3.73 GEAR, 1350 YOKE, 1/2" STUDS AND BIG FORD HOUSING ENDS. THE REAR IS BULLETPROOF AND READY FOR YOU RIGHT FOOT!

BRAKES: THE BRAKES CONSISTS OF A COMPLETE WILWOOD DISK BRAKE SYSTEM WITH A PARKING BRAKE. ALL ROTORS ARE DRILLED, SLOTTED AND COATED FOR KILLER LOOKS. THE MASTER CYLINDER IS AN ALUMINUM WILWOOD PIECE THAT DEPRESSES EASILY AND PROVIDES A GREAT FEEL FOR THE ROAD. THE CAR STOPS ON A DIME AND THE BRAKES ARE VERY QUIET (NO SQUEACKS). ALL LINES THAT CARRY FLUID ARE STEEL BRAIDED. THE PARKING BRAKE CABLES ARE MADE BY LOKAR AND PROVIDE A VERY SMOOTH ENGAGEMENT AND DO NOT HANG BELOW THE EXHAUST LIKE THE FACTORY SYSTEM.

WHEELS/TIRES: THE WHEELS ARE A BEAUTIFUL THREE PIECE DESIGN BY FORGELINE AND ARE THE ULTIMATE FOR A STREET CAR. THE WHEELS HAVE POLISHED, DEEP LIPS AND FORGED ALUMINUM CENTERS COLORED IN GUN METAL. THE GUN METAL COLOR REALLY BOUNCES WELL OFF OF THE SEBRING SILVER PAINT. THE WHEELS ARE 18x8.5 FRONT AND 18x12 REAR WITH 335/30 MICHELIN PILOT SPORT TIRES.

COOLING/PULLEYS: THE COOLING CHORES ARE HANDLED BY A HUGE C&R NASCAR BRAND RADIATOR. THE SYSTEM IS COMPLETE WITH AN OVERFLOW/RECOVERY SYSTEM, TWIN ELECTRIC FANS AND AN ALUMINUM WATER PUMP. THE SERPINTENE PULLEYS ARE POLISHED ALUMINUM FROM KRC AND LOOK GREAT. THE CAMARO RUNS COOL IN TOWN OR ON THE HWY. IT NORMALLY CRUISES AT 180 DEGREES. AND ON A HOT 90+ WILL CREEP UP TO 190 IN BUMPER TO BUMPER TRAFFOIC THEN GO RIGHT BACK DOWN TO 180 OR LESS ONCE YOU START MOVING.

INTERIOR: THE INTERIOR IS ALL NEW AND COMPLETE WITH A CENTER CONSOLE, CARPET, NEW SKINS, DASH, PACKAGE TRAY, HEADLINER, DOOR PANELS, MOMO LEATHER STEERING WHEEL, VINTAGE AIR A/C AND HEATER, AND FULL OF AUTOMETER ULTRA LITE QAUGES. SEATS ARE VERY COOL PRO-CAR \ SCAT PRO-RALLEY SEATS THAT ARE VERTICALLY STICHED TO MATCH THE REAR SEAT, HAVE GREAT LUMBAR AND MATCH THSI CAR PERFECT. I ALSO HAD THE TRUNK UNPOSLTERED IN A COLOR MATCHING SCHEME. THE SPEEDO IS A PROGRAMABLE 5" ELECTRIC GAUGE WITH DIGITAL ODOMETER. THE FOUR GAUGES IN THE CENTER CONSOLE INCLUDE A CLOCK, FUEL, OIL PRESSURE AND WATER TEMP. THE SHIFTER BOOT IS A NASCAR SFI NOMEX BOOT AND OFFERS A COOL ALTERNATIVE TO THE BORING RUBBER STYLE.

There is much more to tell but that should give you some basics. I took the car it to Goodies Speed Shop (www.goodies-speedsop.com) here in San Jose for a once over and for Dyno tuning. They can serve as a great reference for this car.
