The core is the inner structure that can not be bought aftermarket and what the outer metal attaches to. $20K before paint should leave plenty of room.

Yan I'm feeling your pain on this, your car 'looked' pretty sweet before you opened it up. Do you know the shop and their work where you have it now?
Post when he gives you his estimate and what kind of shop it is.
Here's the Mikes place:http://www.mikescustomcars.com/
that will give you a guide line of some costs and maybe you could go with him.
Your 20 000.00 should get your car done and ready for paint, but you have to be thinking of adding mini tubs in the rear and front end frame.....
What is your goal for the car?

Good luck with it keep this site updated and you'll get great advice from the best. Make sure you call next time you roll through Calgary we'll get the crew together and go play cars.

Check out Muscle Car Metal too. He sells a ready made bottom section for around $3500 or so on his website and a little less on ebay. He's in New Hampshire so it's not too far for you to drive and pick one up. He will also rebuild your shell. Lots of pics on his website.

Another vote for Musclecarmetal (www.musclecarmetal.com). Tony did my shell (a total rebuild) with all the metal and labor it was about $9K. When you provide him with a car, he will give you a $2-3K discount over his advertised prices.

Here is a whole page of pics of my shell rebuild by Tony:

After phase 1 of bodywork/paint:

In the pics you posted they don't that bad.

Why not have it media blasted and see what metal repairs need to be from there?

Or is there a lot more rust damage that we cannot see?

What kind of price is the guy estimating? Does he do this kind of work daily or to be more blunt is he qualified?

Sell that V70 and you'll have the cash!
