more information required? How much of a kit do you need? Full conversion? how much horsepower? Let's start there.

Hi Frank,
Would you see a decent RWHP increase from one of these fast kits? I currently have a 540BB with 305 cnc AFR heads Dart block 9.5-1 comp etc and it has a quick fuel carb which has been set up well. the motor made 700 flywheel and is making 471RWHP in my car in Australia a few weeks ago. I was looking for a way to get around 550-600 rwhp. the motor has been built for nos and it made 870 flywheel with a 150 shot but nos is illegal on street cars in Australia.

Regards
Adam

Torque (especially down low) will come up with an efi swap, but HP shouldn't be much different if at all, assuming the carb is sized and tuned correctly. What efi will give you is better driveability, better mileage, easier to make tuning changes, etc. If your engine made a true 700 hp on an engine dyno there must be something different in the car config to get such a large drop in power on a chassis dyno. Was it dynoed without any accessories, open exhaust, etc? It sounds like there's something different in the two setups, like it was dynoed with open headers or a large free-flowing exhaust and the car has restrictive mufflers and a small exhaust, or maybe a small restrictive air filter, etc.

Thankyou for your feedback. The engine on the dyno had a 1 inch spacer under the carby and a electric water pump. The engine now has vintage air front runner set up with a normal pump and no spacer. It is driven through a t56 rockland standard gear box a mark williams tailshaft and currie tracklok rear end. In Australia our RWHP figures are always about 10% under the US due to a difference in some percentage allowance in the dynos here to over there. The car made 505hp rwhp in the same trim. I checked everything and we changed up and down jet power valves etc but the set up it had was a good as it would produce HP wise. I did leave the plugs in the car that were in it as they had been indexed and looked pretty well perfect. It is a very good engine and it is very healthy but i want another 100rwhp because a couple of my mates have blown cars and i want more power asperated. I thought about a procharger but i think that that will cause allot of messing around with the vintage air front runner set up. I could up the compression with different pistons???

gonna be tough to pick up 100 rwhp on an engine that's already making 700 hp n/a. Yes, a Procharger would easily do it depending on compression, but you'll likely lose the VA frontrunner. Upping the compression will pick it up, but not 100 rwhp. Nitrous is the easiest way to get there, and you wouldn't have to change any of your stuff.

Default L92 VVT into BBC

If there was a way to fit the L92 VVT into your BBC, then you could gain 100 HP.

You would need to fit/machine the camshaft, front cover, oil passages.
Then fit the L92 timing sprocket.

Some major work, though I have a plan.

Lance

Hi Lance,
Sorry for asking the question but what is a L92 VVT? There was a guy named Lance that built my engine from califonian street machine. Do you know him?

I think he's speaking about the variable valve timing setup.
