My old man raced speedway(dirt here in Australia) in the early 80`s in a 69 vette. The lines made me appreciate what a true car is. I actually wanted to buy one but at 6`2 when I sat in one my head is on the roof.

My Dad has a 75 nova that I used to really think was cool. What got me was everyday when he came home from work he would do a half doughnut just past our house and park his car infront of the house. I used to think that was the coolest thing when I was like 5. My mom gave me a car near the end of highschool a 1995 neon. My Dad bought me the first aftermarket part for it a hot air intake off ebay lol. Man I wish I had the money I put in that thing for my camaro.

My dad kept telling me to get a real car lol. Young and dumb at least i've got a 69 camaro to work on now!

OMG - that Memphis Belle - WANT.

The rest of the car - not quite my style. But I can appreciate all the work that went into it.

Just after HS I bought a 2000 Monte Carlo LS. Lowered it and slapped a huge wing on it. I had that phase too.

I can't think of any one car that did it. I think it had something to do with the way they felt and the sights and sounds.
Bombing through the woods or desert in a Baja, watching my dad saw at the wheel and the lil 4 cyl screaming. I can also remember cruising in a chopped 46 Merc, the interior with all the pleats and chrome and lil bitty windows, man o man.
My dad had a 37 Buick that I used as a fort/get away car. Chasing bad guys and mowin them down with my tommy gun from the running board, all on the side of the house!

I pulled the boys old playground from the back yard and I'm thinking I may just find an old beater, make it safe for them and plant the seed

It's a drug and I'm an addict.

Couple cars for me, close family friend took me for ice cream in his 78 Camaro scared the crap out of me but I loved it, then later on one of my older brothers buddies in high school had a 78 Camaro also, bright red, 3rd gen camaro wheels, built 350/350 and a posi rear end as his daily driver. We went everywhere in that car rain or shine SIDEWAYS more than straight. Camping, and everything. I loved that car.

Plus the fact I built a ton of plastic models as a kid, and I always modified them. I actually built a pro-touring 69 Camaro when I was like 13 or so years old. Snagged 90's ZR1 seats, Imsa race car wheels and tires. Looked just like my real car, same colour scheme and everything.

Also used to drool over Ferraris in 80's Road and Track magazines. 288 GTO's, Testarossa's and the F40 were my halo cars. F40 still is to this day.

Close friend bought a 1970 Z/28 with an L-88 Hood and Fender flares..

Purple with Side pipes...It was 1975....Loud , fast, and the neighbors hated him...Hooked me on Camaros.

Back then it was all Muscle...Mustangs, RAT powered Chevelles, Camaros, 340 and 440 Six Pack and magnum Dart Swingrs and Cuda's...

I did a fair amount of drooling over the F40 - however - I lust for an XJ220. I react to images of that car that makes my wife jealous.

Born in 61 more than likely on the older side here. Going to high school in the mid to later 70s we got to really see the old iron filling the parking lots and running the streets, it was awesome. For me, I was 15 and my brother had a 69 chevelle ss 396/375 4speed car. In northern jersey and the NY area, street racing was nuts, all the way down sunrise highway in long island home of Baldwin Motion. My first car was a 71 chevelle ss 454/425hp I guess it was an ls5 car, bone stock with 39000 miles on it. Those were the days when you could get a a crane fireball cam, lifters a holley 850 at a swapmeet for 150bucks. Needless to say we beat the snot out of those cars, we were lucky to get through spring and summer with out replacing a muncie gear box. Funny thing is, back then we thought those cars were the fastest things on the planet, probably high 12 to mid 13 second cars always traction deprived. We really had a blast, cops basically gave you a tongue lashing and sent you home, really a different time.

Amen.....Great times....We had a quater mile area in Fremont,Ca in an Industrial area in the mid seventies where the police would come out and just send you home..they would thank you for not racing on the Boulevards..

Good times...Fremont Cruise, Livermore cruise, Santa Rosa cruise..All gone now...
