Default What rear end specs do i need for my DSE tubbed 69?

I am building up a twin turbo ls2 engine that will put out close to 1000hp and need a rear end that will mate to my DSE 4-link, hold the power, and allow me to run a 6" backspaced wheel in my Mini Tubbed 69 Camaro. Is that what everyone is running for backspacing on their Mini Tubbed first gen's?

What width do i need i narrowed to?

I have been looking at Currie aluminum housings http://www.currieenterprises.com/ces...E.aspx?id=1567.

Charlie if you are around, I also was wondering what rear end is the Mule using, is it still the Currie Aluminum housing with 3" tubes? What kind of axels? What kind of diff? still a trutrac?

I think i am pretty hell bent on going with a 9" solution. What else am i going to need... i just want to get my 4-link in their and have the car rolling again.

Thanks,

Trev

The Mules rear end is 56.187". That is with rear discs (app. .300" thickness each) and 6.375" b.s. on 18 X 12.5" wide wheels. To run a 6" b.s. you'd need to subtract .375" from each side for a total of .750" from his measurement. 56.187 - .750 = 55.437" total width.

I do not know the internal specs of the Mules rear end. Mine is the same Currie with aluminum center, nodular iron 9+ third member, tru-trac, 3.50 gears, and Currie 31 spline axles.

Finally, you still need to do your own measuring. These cars are not all identical, especially if they've been hit and repaired in the past. Mine had a 1" difference in wheelwell width side to side when I bought it.

I ordered my wheels with the backspacing that I wanted (18x12 with 6" BS), mounted the 335's and placed them up inside the mini-tubbed wheelhousing. Once I was happy with where they were, I measured the width from wheel mounting surface to wheel mounting surface. Subtract the rotor thickness for each side, and I had the overall width of the rear end, flange to flange.

As for the rear, I went with a 9" with an aluminum housing from Currie. I went with 31 spline axles and a nodular 9+ race case. You can certainly go larger than 31 spline axles, but then you really start running out of options for limited slip.
