Hey everyone my name is Daniel and I am a 24 yr old college student. I have had my 68 chevelle for a pretty good while now, but i am just starting to get back into the car and working on it again. I used to drive the car in high school back in 01 and 02 but then I blew up the 454 and i had to build a new motor. It is a 489ci BBC a turbo 400 and a 8.5" 10 bolt. Long story short i am re doing the fuel system on it right now... I just got a new demon 850 for it and some new line and after that I really wanna do the suspension on the car and the brakes. Because right now it has stock suspension and brakes and it floats horribly with the stock 307 springs and crappy shocks and the front discs are pretty bad I think. I really need some direction for the car, alot of advice, and im craving info! This forum and the type of cars here is where I want the car to go in the long run. I just really wanna get it moving quickly while handling good and stopping good also. I just sold my newer 01 SS camaro and I took the TT2's off of it and put them on my Chevelle with some spacers to make them fit right. Here is a picture of the car and how it sits now:
and one pic of the motor
Doesnt the car sit really low?? are the springs just worn out?
Anyways, I am thinking about getting a full BMR suspension set up on the car, but I just dont know yet because of the whole spindle ordeal and the height of them and mixing that with the brakes and all.
Right now my stock discs are really Hard on the pedal, and I dont know if I should just go through them and rebuild/replace parts... or if I should just throw a whole new C5/C6 kit on there or what. Like I said, I need direction with the car.
Oh and one more question, if I randomly wanted to take the car to the dragstrip would it hook if I threw some slicks on the back with a stiffer suspension kit from BMR in the front and back?
sorry for all the questions! and im glad to be here!
