Default Steering box with LS motor?

I no a lot of guys on here are running RP, I order the close ratio DSE box, Will this cause a issue when I convert car over to a LS motor?

Can you post pictures of your steering box with LS motor. Just want to see how much room there is for headers

I have a line on Kooks headers and motor mounts

Thanks in advance. Kirk

I don't know if this will help you. but I have a third gen box in my first gen. From what I can tell the overall deminsion's are the same. I have a ls-2 with stainless works headers and they do not clear the box or the z-bar. I was told by stainless that they would work...not. No exact info on your set up sorry. best of luck.

Bobcat68rs, Are you using headers and motor mounts from same company?

The DSE quick ratio unit went lock to lock in 3/4 turn, I cant wait to drive this thing, ..

Thanks Kirk

No, headers are stainless works, mounts holley stock location. My first plan was to use holley darksides with the holley mounts, but holley couldn't tell me for sure that the z-bar would clear. Not that that matters know because stainless said theres would definitely clear z-bar and box. They don't, not evan close on z-bar and I'm at least a 1/2" from getting a bolt in the mount. Needless to say I'm not a happy sw customer.

Well, on the other token...I've got a factory 69 Camaro steering box, an LS-1, and ATS motor mounts for my car. I ordered the SW headers made for an original frame/steering box, and while there's not much clearance, they definetly fit. I've had them on the car for over 3 years, great quality!!!

...you can see here, the primary for cyl #1 is probably less than 1/2" from one of the corner bolts on the steering box, and cyl #3 runs slightly better clearance, probably between 1/2 and 1". It fits, but you probably need some sort of heat shield between the lines and the headers - my PS pump whines badly when the car gets hot, and I'm sure that's why...

I will add, I removed my Z-bar when I swapped to a T56, so clearance with that part is not an issue for me.

I agree the headers are nice. Also they don't make there own motor mounts. The problem is I wanted to keep the motor in the stock location for f/r balance and that the perfect-fit rs-600 from keisler would work. I might be wrong but dont the ats mounts move the motor foward a considerable amount? The problem is I spoke with and emailed SW and told them just what I had and wanted to do . There answer was they would definitly fit. Just for the record the rs-600 doesn't fit well either the tower is at least a 1/2" to far back from hitting the factory hole.
