Angry Pypes/performance Years Customer Service

I have thought long and hard about posting this thread but after numerous calls to both PYPES and PY I have no choice, so here is my story. I recently purchased a full PYPES exhaust system from PY (Performance Years) a Pontiac parts place, I also went ahead and got the 72 splitter tips for my car. They stated that they would be POLISHED STAINLESS STEEL as well as SHOW QUALITY, well when I received my first pair they were horrible. They looked like they were just finished and were packed up and sent to me, the weld were nice but not finished they still had the black burn marks on them. I called PY and spoke with a women who insisted that the tips I was holding in my hands were fully polished and were show quality. After we went back and forth she put me on hold for ten minutes and when she returned she advised me that she went to look at another pair of 72 splitter tips and that she now knew what I was talking about. She too could see that the welds were not ground down or polished nor was the tip polished but she insisted on telling me they were stainless, I asked her what could be done and she told me nothing. She told me that once they sell all of those (crappy) tips they would have the manufacture fix the problem but until then I could keep them the way the are or send them back, so I sent them back. Well I went ahead and ordered another set this time from PYPES who ensured me that they would be of the highest quality. When I received my second pair of crappy tips the welds again are not ground away or polished and neither is the rest of the tips. When I called PYPES to ask them what happened to there high quality product the gentlemen told me and I quote "get a grinder and grind away at the welds and he told me to take some rouge and polish the entire tip area and it would look great". He stated that it should only take about an hour tops, he went on to tell me that there was a mis communication between the manufacture and PYPES as to how the final tip would be so there was nothing he could do. I think that this is totally unacceptable. Here are some photo's of the tips, let me know what you think!!

pics too small, do you have a magazine ad or catalog that details what the part should be?? or are you going off what a saleman says?? you know what opinions are like.

Default Tips

The catalog only states that they are 304 polished stainless steal slip fit splitter tips for 1964-1965 and 1972 GTO'S. I spoke with numerous sales persons from both PYPES and Performance years who stated that these were show quality replacement tips (not original tips). These are not by any means show quality, even if they did not tell me they were show quality I would not be happy with them. These tips are not a finished product they look like the manufacture finished welding them and just packaged them up and shipped them out. As I stated before the welds are not ground smooth, the tips are not polished and the weld are not polished. There still burn marks around the welds. please do not get me wrong the quality of the welds are very good but that does not make anything better. If you go to there web page or look at the photo's on the site or in the catalog you see what the tips should look like, they are a fully polished or chromed tip with nice finished welds.

I guess I don't understand. Why not return them, get a refund, and move on? Find somebody who makes a set to your liking.

What are you putting those tips on anyways?

Are they for side exit or something?

Default Tips

I've tried that, no one makes any tips for my car. I ordered a set from the parts place and they said that they would not be from PYPES but they were. They know that they are the only game in town so I guess this is why their customer service sucks.
