“Outstanding” That is the word of the day for Sunday’s Eye’s On Design show.
Everyone was very excited for the selections this year and the attendance was
also up. The event went smooth and with out a problem. The Detroit Institute of
Ophthalmology was very please and the same from Jeff Denison our Chairman of
selection where very happy to of had such a strong showing and turn out.

Myself, I would like to thank all the participants for the “Pro-Touring class.
What a great group of cars and people. I felt honored to be with such a good
group of people that have a passion for the cars that we all love to build.
People that have a love for the style and character of the old classics with a
need to make them perform at today’s standards and beyond.
Please understand that this show was about the sense of design, character and
over all esthetics of the vehicles.As the theme this year, "Aerodynamics and Streamline Design"
Also Mr. Peters, one of our judges has an appreciation for the performance side of these cars.
Your cars where highly noticed.
Why do you think that every car owner was asked to open hoods for a show that was supposed to be closed hood event.
The workmanship and skill was noticed and appreciated. The next day at GM Design quite a few designers came to me
asking about John Parsons IIMuch Nova!What a fantastic car and the paint color was awesome.
The car was a big hit with the younger designers as myself and some of the other PT boys.
I could talk about everyone of the cars but Ill let the pictures do the talking.

Once again I thank you for your participation and the chance to of met some true
characters of the Lateral-G / Pro-Touring / Muscle Rides world.

In the pics above, the indoor shots are from the GM Heritage center. Participants got to see that collection on Sat night. Overall the show was a blast. I have a hard time just sitting at a car show and am usually ready to leave in about 2 hours but there was plenty of shade and plenty of unique cars to see. Also the tour of the Edsel and Eleanor Ford house was amazing. All of these cars are parked in their front yard that is about 80 acres. Edsel was the son of Henry Ford. Henry was this planets first billionaire. It was a real treat to just see the Ford estate. Thanks Chris for all your hospitality.

The goofy guy in the car with me and wearing my wife Shirleys name tag is Ryan Kuhlenbeck, GM engineer and Mark Stigelow buddy that is mostly known for mooning GM execs at golf outings.

I had a great time. It was cool seeing the wide variety of cars (rather than acres of GM muscle cars or acres of street rods), and checking out all the unique styling elements.

GM Design did an awesome show, oddly enough, at the Henry/Edsel Ford estate. The grounds, house, and garage are worth the tour if anybody gets to Detroit. It is a beautiful setting. Highly recommended.

And ... congrats to Jeff Trush with his '61 Bubble Top Buick. Way cool car! It sounds awesome with its Flowmaster.

Thanks!...I must say, that the hype surrounding Johns car does not even come close to conveying how incredible the thing really is in person. The craftsmanship, the attention to detail and the overall package was awe-inspiring. That was probably the neatest show I have ever attended...the variety of designs and vehicles was amazing...and to be able to see the 1:3 scale 312 Ferrari model (yes, THAT one) was a treat...as well as getting up close and personal with the Jim Hall Chapparal cars from the 60's. Getting to hang out with Charley, and spending quite a bit of time with John and Andrew Borodin was really great...which is the most important thing to me about these events.

The house is stunning. 86 acres, 3000 ft of shoreline on Lake St. Clair, amazingly, they just replaced the roof, which is English Limestone at a cost of 3.5 million dollars, which is what the structure cost in 1929! Needless to say, it is a pretty incredible place...despite how Detroit gets constantly bagged on, there are some very unique and historically significant places...the "old money" as it were. If anyone is traveling to Detroit...I would highly recommend visiting the Ford Mansion in Grosse Pointe, as well as Meadowbrook Hall, which was the Dodge family home, in addition to Greenfield Village and The Henry Ford Museum...incredible history for everyone to enjoy...

I will 2nd that in every way, form and fashion.

You know who would get a big kick out of this type of show? Bill Howell and his wife. Guys this type event is a win, win for everyone, you, your wife and children. My father in law even showed up and he is not a car guy and found the whole thing spectacular.
